By doing this our business has gone from strength to strength.  
Our prices are worked out by taking into account cost of materials, installation costs, company running costs and company profits, its as simple as that. 
If we were to offer some of the discounts, offers and gimmicks that we see in the press, television, internet and leaflets delivered to your door we would have to add those costs to our prices. This we think is wrong.

If within seven days of placing your order, you find a lower price for products designed and installed to the same specifications and with the same guarantees, Oakwood will refund the difference.

We will pay the vat - This is just another discount added to the price as the vat has to be paid to the Inland Revenue. 
35% Off + 10% Cashback - This is just a combination of discounts added to the price, some companies have had this discount running non stop for over a decade, but of coarse its finishing the end of the month. Update... This company due to problems has just been bought out again and has really thought hard on how they can produce more business. After many meetings they came up with the unique we will offer a 50% discount. Sad isn't it. 
£2500 Window Scrappage Scheme - This is just another discount added to the price as there is no Government window scrappage scheme and never has been.  
Buy one get one free (BOGOF) - This is just another discount, you might as well say 50% Off or should i say added on first. 
55% Off - This is just another discount added to the price, just turned the corner, the next ones better. 
60% Off - This is just another discount added to the price, only another 40% and it will be FREE. Update... The 60% was just too much to bear, they decided to close down leaving customers and suppliers to foot the bill. 
Free Guttering - This is just another discount added to the price, hope it includes the downpipes. 
3 windows for the price of 2 - This is just another discount, you might as well say 33.3% Off. 
3m2 of paving for the price of 2m2 - This is just another discount, you might as well say 33.3% Off. 
Additional 15% Off if you email us for a quotation - This is just another discount to be added to more discounts, wonder if you get more by letter. 
Buy any 4 windows and get any door half price - This is just another discount added to the price. How much is the door?. 
Free Composite door in February - This is just another discount added to the price, probably next month it will be buy one door and get the other free. Clever hey. 
Free glass roof - This is just another discount added to the price. I wonder what price the conservatory really is. 
Extra 10% Discount for senior citizens - This is just another discount added to the price and one of the worst gimmicks we have seen.  
Save 75% Off the cost of double glazing - This is the highest discount which I found on the internet. Wow now that's a bargain. 
Free Kitchen Installation and Free Delivery - This is just a gimmick or another discount depending on how your mind works. Our kitchen installers need paying the same as anyone, perhaps their installers work for free. Oh nearly forgot fuel next month is free at -----------, Exeter. 
Half Price Sale - This is just another discount added to the price. Sounds different than 50% off. 
10% First Call Discount/Immediate Order Discount - This discount is designed to get you to sign on the day, do not be pressured into placing an order until you have done your homework and are 100% sure its for you. Its a fact the rep does come back later or the manager rings because they want to earn their 10 - 20% commission plus bonuses from your order. Big incentive to keep coming back. 
The Managers Discount - Well this discount will happen when all other discounts have failed to secure the order. Either the rep will ring the manager from your home or you will get a call the next day. You never know if you are paying the right price or way over the top, we believe that all these practices are wrong and should be stopped to protect the consumer. 
 
Watch out if the sun is shining you might get another 20% Off. 
 
I am sure you would agree with me that to offer any of the above daft and dishonest so called discounts, offers, gimmicks and cons Oakwood would have to add those amounts to our costings, it's got to come from somewhere. Its a fact that price books are highly inflated to offer these so called discounts, offers and gimmicks.  
If you have a quotation from Oakwood you will be treated with respect and you will know that the price you receive will be the correct price. 
 
I was talking with a client the other day and he said to me "what discounts do you give". I said to him "how much would he like, 30%, 50%, 75%". He looked at me and didn't know what to say. I said "if you tell me before I work out your quotation I will add it to the price". He thanked me for being so honest.
